Quarterly Meetings

We organise quarterly meetings at venues across the city centre to update the community on what we’re up to, and to hear what current and new members would like to see us do. Keep an eye out for emails and/or social media posts to find out when the next meeting is!

First Thursday

First Thursday is a monthly exhibition hosted primarily at Minerva Cafe on the first Thursday of the month. Artists who exhibit identify as queer, or co sider themselves an ally of the community.

More recently, artists have received funding to cover the costs incurred as a result of exhibiting, such as printing, equipment, and materials.

Artists who have exhibited have included (but have not been limited to) painters, illustrators, designers, and performance artists – and we’re always looking to host something different!

If you’re interested in exhibiting please get in touch.

QDSea

A wild swimming club that arranges meets via WhatsApp. If you’d like to come along to get by the sea (swimming isn’t mandatory!) then join through the link here:

Two Sides of the Same Coin

Two Sides of the Same Coin is a creative project that encourages conversations around shared stories from Plymouth’s intertwined LGBTQ+ and local history.

Open Call: Share Your Communal Space Stories – Plymouth Based, Queer Participants Wanted!

Are you a resident of Plymouth who identifies as queer? Do you have stories to share about your experiences in communal spaces in or around Plymouth? We want to hear from you!

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking individuals who identify as queer and are willing to share their personal stories, insights, and experiences related to communal spaces in or around Plymouth. Whether it’s a memory linked to a local park, community centre, late-night venue or any other place that holds significance for you, we want to hear your unique perspective.

Why Your Story Matters:

Your stories are essential in helping us amplify and share the diverse range of experiences within the queer community in Plymouth. By sharing your experiences, you can contribute to a better understanding of Plymouth’s communal spaces and their impact on the LGBTQ+ community.

What You’ll Receive:

As a token of our appreciation for your participation, each participant recording their voice at this stage will receive £30

How to Participate:

If you’re interested in sharing your stories and being a part of this important project, please get in touch with us by emailing geddon.qdc@gmail.com with the subject ‘Queer Voices Open Call’.

Your story will be added to a growing collection of shared memories that will be memorialised in this project’s travelling pub bar. You could attend one of our recording sessions at the Barbican Theatre, or your story could be recorded in another way if that feels more comfortable – through poetry, drawings, etc.

Stories can be anonymous, and if you change your mind about having your story included, please let us know and we will remove it. We won’t censor your story, however, we ask that for your own well-being and the well-being of those that will read them, please only include joyful, positive experiences.

Join us in celebrating the diversity of communal spaces and the rich stories of the queer community in Plymouth. Your story matters, and your voice deserves to be heard! We look forward to hearing from you and amplifying your voices in our community.
